Summary

 

Ever since completing my Engineering degree in 2001 I’ve been working full time as a professional offshore sailor. During this time I’ve raced around the world non stop on a maxi-cat in the Oryx Quest, competed in the Volvo Ocean Race, Transat Jacques-Vabre, Route du Rhum, Mini Transat, Round Britain and Ireland twice and sailed onboard virtually all classes of offshore racing yachts.

 

2009

        VESTAS SAILROCKET, based in Walvis Bay, Namibia, technical support for the teams 2nd attempt at the outright World Sailing Speed Record after breaking the ‘B’ class record in late 2008.

 

2008

        Volvo Ocean Race, Watch Leader and Boat Captain onboard TEAM RUSSIA for the first three legs before the team withdrew due to lack of funds. Full time programme ran from July to January ’09, included over 20,000 sailing miles and a record breaking trip round Britain and Ireland of just over 6 days.

        Senior Preparateur on the Open 60 ECOVER, in charge of all below deck systems and race crew for all fully crewed events. Full refit for the Vendee Globe and 4,000 miles sailed during races and deliveries.


2007

-   8th Transat Jacques Vabre (4500nm) 2-handed NOVEDIA Group / SET Environnement

-   1st RORC Cervantes Trophy (150nm) 2-handed JOS of HAMBLE

-   1st RORC Eddystone Race (200nm) 2-handed JOS of HAMBLE

-   1st RORC Eddystone Race (200nm) 2-handed JOS of HAMBLE

-   10th Open Demi-Cle (200nm) 2-handed WOMBAT

 

2006

-   Route du Rhum (4500nm) solo on the Class 40 KENMORE HOMES. Retired mid Atlantic after breaking boom and several other essential items of equipment. Made repairs in the Azores and returned to the UK.

-   1000nm solo qualification passage for 2006 Route du Rhum

-   Completed build of a Lucas design Class 40 for use in the Route du Rhum.

-   Shetland Round Britain and Ireland (1850nm) 2-handed KENMORE. Broke mast whilst 2nd. Jury rigged to Isle of Barra and despite mast being in three pieces, repaired and re-stepped the mast in six days. Restarted and finished the race within the time limit.

-   1st RORC De Guingand Bowl (150nm) KENMORE 30 ft trimaran

 

2005

-   2nd Oryx Quest, non-stop around the world maxi-cat race DAEDALUS

-   17th Mini Transat (4500nm) solo WHITTLEBURY HALL
